Komeda Holdings is preparing to bring its Komeda Coffee brand to Bangkok for the first time, with a branch due to open by the end of the year in the Exchange Tower office building in the Asok district, according to the company. For visitors, the appeal is likely to be less about a quick espresso stop and more about a relaxed, full-service café experience that sits somewhere between breakfast spot, afternoon break and casual meeting place.

The Japanese chain was founded in Nagoya in 1968 and has grown into a sizeable domestic brand, with more than 1,000 outlets and a growing international footprint in markets including Taiwan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore, according to company information. Its presence in Bangkok comes as the city continues to add new dining options across neighbourhoods and mixed-use developments, giving travellers a wider choice of cafés and restaurants than ever before.

Komeda says the Bangkok outlet will serve the brand’s signature Komeda Blend, alongside the morning service that has helped define the chain in Japan: order a drink and receive complimentary toast or a boiled egg. Its well-known Shiro Noir dessert will also be on the menu, and the company says it is developing original dishes suited to local tastes and eating habits. That mix should make the café particularly attractive to travellers looking for a dependable breakfast, a light lunch or a comfortable place to pause during a busy day in the city.

The move also fits into Komeda’s broader overseas push. The group has said expansion beyond Japan, particularly across ASEAN, is a key part of its medium-term strategy, and it was operating 81 overseas shops across Taiwan, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore at the end of July. For Bangkok visitors, the first branch will offer an easy way to sample a long-established Japanese café format without leaving central business district surroundings.
